Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has stated Fenaka Institute for Training and Research is conducting important work for the development of human resources. He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the institute's first graduation ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Hassan said the government aims to build a skilled and capable generation and that this goal can only be achieved with the help of the relevant authorities, companies, and organisations. The minister said the institute has become an important player in the development of human resources due to its capability in teaching students the skills necessary for the job market. He noted that the institute was approved to conduct higher education training programmes due to the government's trust in Fenaka Corporation Limited. He praised the institute for beginning scientific research, which will pave the way for further development in utility services in the Maldives.
Furthermore, Minister Hassan the various programmes being conducted by Fenaka is providing students with the opportunity to gain knowledge on the latest powerhouse engines and other machinery. He said he expects the programmes to solve the issue of the lack of trained Maldivians needed to operate and maintain the powerhouses.
He urged more companies and organisations to join the government's Skills for a Resilient Workforce programme to train Maldivians for the job market.
