Ahmed Shareef appointed as Managing Director of STELCO

Former President of the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) Ahmed Shareef has been appointed as the new Managing Director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO).

As per a letter sent by the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) to the Board of Directors of STELCO, changes have been brought to the board upon the instruction of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. As such, PCB announced Hassan Mughunee has been removed as the Managing Director of STELCO, and replaced by Ahmed Shareef.

Shareef had served as the President of ECM from March 2018 until June 2021. He had also previously served as the Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation.

The STELCO Board of Directors is comprised of five members. This includes the Chairman, Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director and two Directors.
