Maldives Immigration has announced its decision to grant a special visa for Ukrainian tourists who plan to stay in the Maldives for an extended period of time, due to the ongoing situation in the country.
Maldives Immigration stated Ukrainian tourists are required to apply for the visa extension via IMUGA portal of Maldives Immigration, before the expiry of the visa granted on arrival. Documents required for visa extension include application for permit extension, copy of passport data page, digital photo of the applicant which complies to the Visa Photo Standard of Maldives Immigration, copy of the operating license issued by the Ministry of Tourism to the tourist facility accommodating the applicant and the payment invoice, if the applicant is staying in a tourist guesthouse.
Ukraine is one of the top 10 tourist source markets to the Maldives. Several Ukrainian tourists are unable to return home as the country’s airspace has been shut down due to the military operation launched against the country by Russia.
