Hafthaares programme begins in Veymandoo

The sixth edition of the HafthaaRes programme has commenced in Veymandoo, Thaa Atoll.

The HafthaaRes programme is conducted by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, in association with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). The aim of the programme is to facilitate the relevant institutions and authorities to come together with the public to work towards resolving social issues and building a resilient society.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, State Minister for Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Hussain Ismail said all citizens should work together to maintain peace in their community and be cautious of the spread of disinformation.

During the programme, workshops will be held for the senior officials of the various island institutions and the local Women's Development Committee (WDC) as well as the school management, teachers and parents. The workshops will be conducted by the youth ministry, NCTC, Maldives Police Service (MPS), Islamic University of Maldives (IUM), and Maldives Red Crescent.

This is the second HafthaaRes programme to begin this year, with the first being held in Fuvahmulah City.
