Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has revealed election of two seats at the Disability Council of the Maldives has been further postponed.
The election of the Disability Council is scheduled to be held on February 24. However, the gender ministry said the election for two of the council seats have been postponed due to unresolved complaints regarding the accessibility of the election for eligible voters with respect to the electoral arrangements in place. As such, the ministry revealed the election of the council members representing disabled individuals and their guardians have been postponed.
The gender ministry revealed the election of council members representing civil society organisations will take place on February 24, between 0900hrs and 1100hrs. The ministry stated the council members representing healthcare workers and mental health professionals have already been elected.
The election of the Disability Council was initially scheduled to be held on February 19. However, the gender ministry had postponed the election to February 24.
