National Drug Agency (NDA) has conducted the second edition of the Capacity Building for Community Leaders programme in Velidhoo, Noonu Atoll.
The programme is an initiative of NDA and the Ministry of Health to train community leaders for the fight against drug abuse. As such, the programme aims to train individuals to help victims recover from addiction and prevent more people from being exposed to drugs.
The programme in Velidhoo was attended by 26 individuals, including teachers, parents, members of civil organisations and active members of the island community. Through the programme, NDA shared information of the agency’s treatment programmes and other projects carried out to eliminate drug abuse in the community.
The first edition of the Capacity Building for Community Leaders programme was carried out last year in Hoarafushi, Haa Alifu Atoll.
