President wishes Queen Elizabeth a speedy recovery

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has wished Queen Elizabeth II a speedy recovery after she tested positive for COVID-19.

In a message on Twitter, President Solih said he was sad to learn that Queen Elizabeth has tested positive for COVID-19. The president said the people of the Maldives join him in wishing her a speedy recovery and good health.

Buckingham Palace has released a statement confirming the 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth recently tested positive for COVID-19 after informing her staff she is feeling ill. The palace stated she is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor Castle over the coming week.

A number of emplyees have tested positive for COVID-19 at Windsor Castle, where Queen Elizabeth usually resides during lockdowns. Queen Elizabeth is fully vaccinated and marked the 70th anniversary of her accession to the British throne in early February.
