Fenaka Home Solar programme to reduce bills by 97%

Fenaka Corporation Limited has stated the home solar programme it has introduced will allow customers to reduce their monthly electricity bill by up to 97%. The state-owned utility company made the statement after introducing the home solar programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology.

The purpose of the programme is to significantly lower the electricity costs for the general public while also contributing to the government's goal of reducing the country's heavy reliance on imported fossil fuels and helping achieve the target of net zero emissions by 2030.

Fenaka stated the high initial investment costs and technical difficulties associated with solar installation are significant roadblocks to widespread solar adoption in the country. However, the company hopes to address these difficulties by providing a low-cost solution with a manageable payment plan and handling the entire operation from beginning to end.

The Fenaka home solar programme is a small cost-investment and is a permanent solution to electricity bills, which have been continuously increasing. As such, the programme will allow customers to reduce their monthly electricity bill by up to 97%, as a USD130 electricity bill of a household would drop to up to USD4. It also stated the home solar systems are green power plants installed on roofs, which have low maintenance costs, and lights and cools with solar energy.

A home solar system can also be used for 20-25 years.
