Ministry of Tourism has revealed the number of tourism beds in operation in the Maldives has risen to 52,024.
Statistics released by the tourism ministry show the total tourist bed capacity registered to serve tourists in the Maldives is 56,410 and out of these, 52,024 beds are in operation as of December 4. These include 37,352 beds from resorts, 10,466 beds from guesthouses, 2,846 beds brought into operation by safaris, and 1,360 beds from hotels, stated tourism ministry.
Moreover, a total of 911 tourist facilities have been brought into operation, including 160 resorts, 597 guesthouses, 144 safaris, and 10 hotels. The tourism ministry said 51,740 beds were operating in the Maldives by the end of October. A further 284 beds were brought into operation within one month.
While the number of beds brought into operation has increased, the number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives has also been on the rise. The statistics show that 1,177,905 tourists have arrived in the Maldives thus far this year which is an increase of 152.8% compared to the same period last year.
