Government opens new registrations for the poor and needy in Male’ area

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has opened new registrations for the poor and needy in the Greater Male’ Region.

The Islamic ministry said individuals in Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’ who wish to newly register under the Registry for the Poor and Needy can submit their applications to the ministry until December 30. Application forms are available from the reception of the Islamic ministry, and are also available for download from the website of the ministry.

The Islamic ministry further stated individuals who received Zakat Al-Mal in 2021 will not have to register as they are already in the Registry for the Poor and Needy.

As of 2020, a total of 1,520 people were registered as poor in the Maldives.
