Supreme Court goes to recess

Supreme Court of the Maldives has gone to its annual recess.

As per the Judicature Act of the Maldives, the Supreme Court will go to recess from the last working day of November until the first working day of January. During recess, the court will not conduct any hearing, unless absolutely necessary. However, the court will continue to accept cases and carry out administrative work during this period.

During its final hearing of the year, the Supreme Court has concluded the appeal into former President Abdulla Yameen’s prison sentence over money laundering charges, overturning the prison sentence and setting him free.
