Technology solved challenges during COVID-19 pandemic: VP

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated technology solved various challenges the country faced following the COVID-19 pandemic. He made the remarks during the graduation ceremony of the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme 2021.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Naseem highlighted the important role of technology in national development and said the implementation of the latest technology used by other countries will benefit every citizen in the Maldives.
The vice president said transferring a large amount of work and services online during the COVID-19 pandemic is proof of the usefulness of technology. He said transferring the work online allowed schools to conduct online classrooms and for government services to continue to be available. He advised the participants in the apprenticeship programme to work hard and said that commitment and consistency is the key to success.

Also at the ceremony, the CEO of Dhiraagu Ismail Rasheed said the apprenticeship programme is being conducted in Male' City and eight centres in the atolls. He said the purpose of the programme is to allow more young people to participate in the job market.

During the ceremony, Vice President Naseem awarded certificates to 15 apprentices who successfully completed the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme.

The telecommunications company initiated the programme in December 2009 through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy to assist positive youth development.
