Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Masud Bin Momen has acknowledged and applauded the determination of the Maldives to vaccinate the entire population, regardless of nationality. Foreign Secretary Momen made the remarks during a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem at the President's Office.
Speaking at the meeting, Foreign Secretary Momen conveyed his delight over the opening of the borders and restarting the tourism sector following the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, the foreign secretary admired the determination of the Maldives to vaccinate the entire population, regardless of nationality.
Meanwhile, speaking about his recent official visit to Bangladesh, Vice President Naseem noted that seeking solutions to the need for human resources in the health sector had been a key priority of his visit as the need for healthcare employees had considerably increased with the decentralisation efforts of the administration.
Furthermore, Foreign Secretary Momen extended an invitation to the Maldives to send foreign service employees for training at the newly established Foreign Service Institute.
The Foreign Secretary of the Maldives Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed accepted the invitation, stating that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had recently ratified the Maldives Foreign Service Act, which paves way for a Foreign Service Institute to be established under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
