Ministry of Tourism has revealed over 100,000 tourist arrivals have been recorded so far this month.
A total of 104,693 tourist arrivals were recorded as of November 22, which is a significant increase of 329.5% compared to the arrivals of the same period last year, according to statistics of the tourism ministry. It is also an increase of 5.2% compared to pre-pandemic arrivals in November 2019. As such, 99,558 tourists arrived in the Maldives in November 2019.
When looking into statistics, it is notable that tourist arrivals were above 100,000 in the past five months. The statistics show 92,103 tourist arrivals were recorded in January, 96,882 arrivals were recorded in February and 109,585 arrivals were recorded in March this year. Additionally, a total of 91,200 tourists visited the Maldives in April, 64,613 tourists visited in May, 56,166 visited in June, 101,818 in July, 143,599 in August, and 114,896 arrivals were recorded in September. Statistics released by the tourism ministry show that 142,066 tourists visited the Maldives in October.
A total of 1,117,621 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.
The Maldives currently sees an average of 4,759 tourists per day and has targetted a total of 1.3 million tourist arrivals by the end of the year.
