State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has brought the new powerhouse in Thinadhoo, Vaavu Atoll into operation following the installation of a new generator.
The new powerhouse in Thinadhoo began operations with a completely new STW500 model generator assembled by STELCO's Stevo Workshop. The total electricity capacity of Thinadhoo has increased to 1136 kilowatt with the new generator currently in operation.
STELCO said Thinadhoo previously had a capacity of 656 kilowatt and efforts are underway to relocate the generators from the old powerhouse. STELCO said the use of the old powerhouse will be completely stopped with the relocation of generators to the new powerhouse.
The new powerhouse has been upgraded as an electricity distribution network, according to STELCO.
The state-utility company said efforts are also underway to install solar panels at the new powerhouse.
