The Government of the Maldives has revealed it has contracted a company to conduct a structural assessment on Arabiyya School.
Ministry of Education and the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure have allowed engineers to conduct a visual inspection of the school in response to complaints from parents. The education ministry stated the inspection report has recommended that a structural assessment needs be made in order to determine the immediate renovations that need to be made in the school. The ministry stated the assessment will take around two months and that the renovation will begin immediately afterwards.
Parents have expressed concern over the safety of students attending Arabiyya School due to signs of wear and tear found on the premises. Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has met with parents to disclose information on the work being done to solve the issue.
Arabiyya is an Arabic medium school in Male' City that teaches almost all the subjects in the Arabic language.
