Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated special attention needs to be given to the health and safety of children. He made the remarks at the ceremony to inaugurate the Centre for Reproductive Health at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH).
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Naseem highlighted the efforts of the administration in developing the health sector and the numerous achievements of the government within the past three years to develop KRH. The vice president said the number of services fulfilled by KRH has reached almost 300,000, and that it confirms the hospital has garnered public trust. He also stressed that the services established within the past three years were long overdue, and urged healthcare staff to treat patients with respect and compassion, especially children.
The reproductive care facility in KRH is the first of its kind to be established outside of the Greater Male' Region and was established with assistance from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). A wide range of reproductive health services will be made accessible with the establishment of the centre. KRH currently treats around 700 female patients and over 600 children per day.
Following the inauguration, Vice President Naseem toured the facility and KRH and met with the staff and observed the situation of the hospital.
