Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed over 5,000 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine booster doses.
HPA began administering a third vaccine dose on October 3 for individuals who received the first two doses. The latest statistics show a total of 5,390 individuals have received the booster dose, with 191 individuals receiving the dose within 24 hours as of November 16.
The statistics show 113 individuals received the booster dose in the Greater Male' Region and 78 individuals received the dose in the atolls.
The Maldives currently administers the Pfizer vaccine as the booster dose for COVID-19. HPA stated booster doses are being administered to health workers and frontline workers as well as high-risk individuals.
Individuals who fit the criteria will be allowed to receive the booster dose six months after their second dose. Appointments can be booked online to receive the booster dose at ADK Hospital, Hulhumale' Hospital, or Villimale' Hospital.
Statistics from the HPA show 395,195 individuals have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in the Maldives, and 361,391 individuals have received the second dose.
