Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has said the number of bed nights in tourism will increase this year compared to 2019.
Speaking at the Tourism Sector Security Workshop, Minister Mausoom revealed 1.3 million tourist arrivals are expected to arrive in the Maldives by the end of this year. The minister added with the increase in the number of tourist arrivals, the number of bed nights is also expected to increase which will result in an increment compared to 2019.
Noting the tourism industry of Maldives is reviving, he appreciated everyone for their efforts in promoting tourism.
Statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism show 1,074,154 million tourists have visited the Maldives, as of November 13. Statistics show the number of daily tourist arrivals has increased to 4,710 tourists per day. Meanwhile, it is expected a total of 226,080 tourists will arrive in the Maldives in the remaining days of the year, with a total of 1,300,234 arrivals by the end of the year.
Furthermore, statistics released by the ministry showed 61,226 tourists have arrived in the Maldives so far this month which is an increase of 6.2% compared to the 57,677 tourists who arrived in the Maldives during the same period in 2019.
