Statistics have shown the highest number of COVID-19 cases are currently in Addu City.
As per statistics released by Addu Emergency Operation Centre (AEOC), the city has confirmed over 390 cases of COVID-19. AEOC revealed all citizens are working together to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, adding the number of cases has decreased in some islands which were severe, however, cases in other islands have increased significantly.
According to the latest statistics published by the AEOC, a total of 51 new cases have been reported from the islands of Addu in the past 24 hours.
With the new cases, the total of active cases in Addu city is 396 and two patients are being treated at the Addu COVID-19 facility. The highest number of new cases are currently reported in Hithadhoo. As such, 21 cases have been confirmed from Hithadhoo in the past 24 hours, and the number of active cases in Hithadhoo is 224. Feydhoo currently has the second-highest number of positive cases with 14 people. A further 12 cases are reported in Meedhoo have risen the active cases in Meedhoo to 43.
Meanwhile, Maradhoo has 45 positive patients, 11 positive patients in Maradhoo-Feydhoo and 5 positive patients in Hulhudhoo. Apart from the capital city Male, the highest number of deaths have been recorded in Addu. So far, 11 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Addu.
Addu is currently under monitoring and travel between islands within the city has been banned except with special permission. Authorities have also made it mandatory to wear masks while in public.
