Ministry of Tourism has revealed the daily average number of tourist arrivals has increased to 4,708.
Statistics released by the tourism ministry show the number of daily tourist arrivals has increased compared to the previous average of 4,583 tourists per day. The statistics also show that 1,060,004 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year. The number of visits this year is 26% lower compared to the tourist visits recorded in the same period in 2019 but 145% higher compared to 2020.
The statistics also show 92,103 tourist arrivals were recorded in January, 96,882 arrivals were recorded in February and 109,585 arrivals were recorded in March this year. Additionally, a total of 91,200 tourists visited the Maldives in April, 64,613 in May, 56,166 in June, 101,818 in July, 143,599 in August, 114,896 in September, and 142,066 in October. A total of 47,046 tourists visited the Maldives in the first 10 days of November, which is a 3% increase compared to the 45,724 arrivals recorded in the same period in 2019.
Furthermore, the statistics show the highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives are from India. As such, 22.5% of the tourist arrivals to the Maldives so far this year are from India. The second-highest number of tourists arrived from Russia, accounting for 18.4% of the total tourist arrivals to the Maldives.
