95% of tourism workers fully vaccinated

Ministry of Tourism has revealed 95% of tourism workers have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The weekly tourism update report published by the tourism ministry shows 95% of tourism workers are fully vaccinated as of November 10. The report also shows 99% of tourism workers have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The government has given a high priority to vaccinating tourism workers in its countrywide vaccination programme, as they work closely with tourists visiting the country. As such, the government began administrating vaccines to frontline tourism workers within three days of beginning the vaccination programme. Currently, 152 resorts are in operation in the Maldives with 41,431 tourism workers.

Furthermore, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and the tourism ministry began a vaccination campaign aimed at the Maldives tourism industry. The purpose of the campaign is to make the Maldives the first country to fully vaccinate its tourism workers.
