Doctors to be transported from Male’ to Addu for emergency surgeries

The government has facilitated arrangements for the transport of doctors from Male’ to Addu for emergency surgeries in Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH).

The arrangements were made following a request made by parliamentarians from Addu City during a meeting held with Vice President Faisal Naseem at the President’s Office. Parliamentarian Rozaina Adam stated the request was made to ease the difficulties faced in transferring patients from AEH to Male’ for surgery. She thanked Vice President Faisal Naseem and Minister at the President’s Office Ali Shiyam for the swift action to the request.

Last month, Vice President Faisal Naseem visited AEH and identified the development needs at the hospital. He also inaugurated a training programme called “Service Excellence” for AEH staff to develop their customer care skills.

AEH is the largest hospital in the southern atolls of the Maldives. Therefore, a large population seeks services from the hospital. The government has been undertaking several efforts to upgrade and improve the services provided by the hospital.
