Hungary to provide 15 scholarships to the Maldives annually

The governments of the Maldives and Hungary have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide 15 scholarships for Maldivian students annually for 4 years.

The MoU for the scholarships was signed by Minister of Higher Education of the Maldives Dr. Ibrahim Hassan and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Dr. Orsolya Pacsay-Tomassich. Under the MoU, Hungary will provide 15 scholarships to the Maldives every year, including 6 undergraduate scholarships, 7 post-graduate scholarships and 2 PhD scholarships. The scholarships are provided across the sectors of agriculture science, arts and humanities, social science, teaching training and sports science as well as natural science.

The higher education ministry stated all expenses of the courses, apart from air tickets, will be funded by the Hungarian government. The ministry said the air-tickets will be funded by the Maldivian government.
