Most precious reward is to be enlightened onto path of Islam: VP

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated the most precious reward any individual can earn is to be enlightened onto the path of Islam. He made the statement while speaking at the special ceremony held at the Islamic Centre to commemorate the day the Maldives embraced Islam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Naseem said Maldivians must double down on their efforts to instil the Islamic faith in the hearts of children as long as they remain a 100% Muslim nation. He said Maldivians must contemplate on the teachings of Islam and work towards prosperity for their future and the hereafter.

The vice president also said Islam teaches values and ethics to live by, and that individuals must strengthen their familial bonds while respecting each other, do good deeds, refrain from bad habits and extend assistance to whoever is in need. He highlighted that individuals must be more cautious of the negative influences from foreign cultures, as they live in an ever more interconnected and dynamic world.

Vice President Naseem also called upon parents to be more vigilant in the upbringing of their children and to learn lessons from everyday life.

Vice President Naseem, members of the cabinet and other senior government officials attended the ceremony, during which a special prayer was recited by Sheikh Nasrullah Ali.

The Maldives commemorates the day the nation embraced Islam on the 2nd of Rabiʽ al-Akhir every year on the Islamic Calendar.
