President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated special attention should be given to instill the true Islamic faith in the hearts of children. He made the remarks in his address to the nation on the anniversary of the day the Maldives embraced Islam.
In his address, President Solih said raising children with Islamic principles is the key to raising a good generation. The president noted the Maldivian nationality is built on Islam and that every Maldivian must work to preserve the bounties of the faith. He shed light on the most significant issues Maldivians face today in terms of disseminating views that are not related to the Islamic faith while claiming that it is.
As a result, he said the few people who believe these conflicting views inflict damage to people's properties and lives and incite violent attacks.
Furthermore, President Solih stressed it is critical for teachers and parents to educate children with genuine Islamic values and principles to avoid the spread of incorrect beliefs in the name of Islam. He concluded his speech by advising individuals to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet by protecting the lives and belongings of others, respecting each other, eliminating envy, and forgiving people.
The Maldives commemorates the day the nation embraced Islam on the 2nd of Rabiʽ al-Akhir every year on the Islamic Calendar.
