Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to suspend Criminal Court Judge Hussain Faiz Rashad for the investigation of a leaked audio.
In a statement issued on November 4, JSC revealed Judge Faiz is being suspended for the investigation of the leaked audios where Criminal Court judges allegedly admit to being influenced to sentence former President Abdulla Yameen to prison. JSC stated the forensic analysis of the audios revealed the voice in one of the audios matched the voice of Judge Faiz. Therefore, the commission stated the remarks made during the audio is under investigation.
JSC further stated it decided to suspend Faiz based on the type of case being investigated and the information obtained so far during investigation. The commission revealed Faiz has been suspended for a duration of 60 days starting from November 5, in accordance to Article 25 of the JSC Act.
JSC began an investigation into comments made by three judges of the Criminal Court, who allegedly claimed they were influenced in issuing the prison sentence to former President Yameen on money laundering charges. However, all three judges had denied the legitimacy of the leaked audio.
