JSC probes Judge Faiz over alleged audio leaks

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has revealed its decision to investigate Criminal Court Judge Hussain Faiz Rashad over the alleged audio leaks. In a press release, JSC stated it has received the result of the police forensic analysis of the alleged audio leaks of Criminal Court judges.

It stated the result of the analysis shows the voices in the audio clips do not match that of Criminal Court Judge Ali Adam or Drug Court Judge Mohamed Sameer. The commission stated it has decided not to pursue further investigations regarding the judges, as they have been falsely accused.

JSC also stated the analysis has shown that the three audio clips submitted to the commission were tempered recordings, with parts of the clips having been deleted and rearranged. It stated the audio clip concerning Judge Faiz has also been tempered but that the analysis shows it was his voice, despite his denial. Therefore, JSC stated it has formed a committee to conduct further investigations into the issue.

It also noted the statements made in the audio clip concerning Judge Faiz do not mention any meetings between various parties and judges regarding the trial of former President Abdulla Yameen or confirm that the verdict against him was influenced. However, JSC highlighted that the audio clip consists of statements made regarding court proceedings outside of the court, which undermines the public's trust in the judicial system and paves the way for influencing judges.

The commission also condemned the act of accusing judges using false audio clips and urged media outlets to publish reports after confirming the truthfulness of the relevant information.
