Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has stated the government places a high priority on strengthening the quality of service provided by Maldives Police Service (MPS) to ensure the institution is up to the standards of the modern world. He made the remarks while speaking at a ceremony held to grant rank and grade promotions to some officers of MPS.
Speaking at the ceremony, Home Minister Imran highlighted the high priority placed by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the administration to strengthen the police institution, and ensure they can overcome the challenges of the modern world. The minister noted the high priority placed on strengthening police services in the Maldives is evident by the large budget allocated for MPS, despite the economic implications of the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted the budget has been allocated with special focus on training and development of police officers to cope with modern-day challenges.
Speaking further, Home Minister Imran highlighted the great responsibility shouldered by officers of MPS in maintaining peace and harmony in the society. He added a noble police institution will create a noble society.
