Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated government services offered to citizens would shift to a system where these services are available close to home. He made the remarks at the meeting held with members of Addu City Council to enquire about their concerns.
During the meeting, Vice President Naseem remarked that the amendments made to the Decentralisation Act will enable to provide services to citizens closer to their homes. In this regard, he highlighted actions to boost the city's healthcare services and held comprehensive discussions with councillors on the subject.
Members of the Addu City Council briefed the vice president on the most pressing issues and interests of their residents in various sectors. They shed light on the challenges faced by the council, such as a lack of adequate human resources and budgetary constraints. They also asked the vice president to consider prioritising residents of Addu when hiring employees for government urban development projects in the city.
Addressing their concerns, Vice President Naseem stated he would speak with relevant authorities to find viable solutions regarding their requests.
