Providing good consultancy service does not complete healthcare: Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated establishing consultancy service alone does not complete the health care system. He made the remark while speaking at the inauguration of the Service Excellence Programme held at Addu City Equatorial Hospital (AEH).

In his remarks, Vice President Naseem noted that health services are an important basic service linked to the people. As such, the vice president said the skills and qualities of providing services to citizens should be instilled in the health sector personnel, from doctors and management to the most ordinary employees. He noted health sector personnel or health centres should not believe the service is completed just by arranging ways to consult a doctor.

Moreover, Vice President Naseem expressed gratitude for the roles played by health workers and all collaborating agencies and individuals in managing the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives. The vice president commended healthcare workers and those working in the health sector for their relentless effort to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged participants to make the best use of the training and lessons learned to improve their work. He also stressed the importance of cohesiveness in the work environment and working as a team.

The Service Excellence Programme is a series initiated by the President's Office and the Civil Service Training Institute to improve the quality of services. The programme will be conducted for AEH employees from October 29-31.
