Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL) has signed an agreement to receive resources from Addu International Airport (AIA) for its flight training school. The facility lease agreement was signed by the Managing Director of IASL Mohamed Mihad and Managing Director of AIA Gais Naseer.

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Vice President Faisal Naseem, cabinet ministers, and parliamentarians representing Addu City. Under the agreement, AIA will provide a hanger and an office building for the flight training school as well as the necessary resources and assistance.

Maldives National University (MNU) signed the agreement with IASL to open the flight training school on October 14.

As per the agreement, MNU and IASL will establish a joint venture company to open the flight training school in Gan, Addu City. A flight training academy from the Czech Republic was chosen to operate the school after the completion of the bidding process.

Managing Director Mihad said the flight training academy has 30 years of training experience in the aviation sector and is also currently involved in training Maldivians. He said the school is scheduled to open by the end of the year and will enroll 30 students to be trained for a diverse range of jobs in the aviation sector.

He added the school will focus on students who have been unable to complete their course at the flying school operated in Addu by the Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA).
