Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) has officially commenced the project to establish the water supply system in Innamaadhoo, Raa Atoll.
The project was officially inaugurated during a ceremony held at the island on October 28. The ceremony was attended by Parliamentarian Hassan Ahmed, MWSC’s Chairman Ahmed Mausoom, and MWSC’s Managing Director Hassan Shah.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Parliamentarian Hassan Ahmed highlighted the efforts undertaken by the government to fulfill the basic needs of the people, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed hope the people of Innamaadhoo will provide their full support and cooperation to the project.
Under the project, an 8.33km water supply network will be established in Innamaadhoo, supplying water to 215 households. Two RO plants are to be established in the island, along with 2 storage tanks with a capacity of 290 cubic metres. Another storage tank with the capacity of 1,010 cubic metres will be established to store rainwater.
The project was contracted to MWSC in December 2020. The project is worth USD 3.28 million.
