Parliament passes decision to sign MoU for participation in IPTP

The Parliament of the Maldives has passed the decision to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sent for participation in the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP). The decision was passed with votes from 48 parliamentarians.

IPTP is a legislative body of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP). It is a non-governmental organisation working to spread the culture of peace and tolerance in order to address the issues of contemporary world peace.

The objectives of GCTP include fighting discrimination, racism, religious and ethnic and sectarian extremism. It also seeks to grow and develop the norms of the international law, which strengthens the principles of tolerance and achieving peace.
