Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated more tourism products need to be introduced for the development of the Maldives tourism industry. He made the statement while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the International Maldives Travel Market (IMTM) 2021.
Speaking at the event, Minister Mausoom said the Maldives tourism industry needs to introduce more products to remain internationally competitive. In this regard, the minister said efforts are underway to expand the Maldives tourism industry to accommodate various types of tourists and various travel budgets.
Also speaking at the event, Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Thoyyib Mohamed said the popularity of the Maldives as a travel destination is due to the collaborative work being done within the tourism industry. He expressed hope the Maldives tourism industry will continue to grow alongside events such as IMTM.
IMTM is a business-to-business travel and trade fair that brings together leading tour operators, travel agencies, destination management companies, and other businesses related to the tourism industry from different parts of the world.
The event aims to explore opportunities and liaise with a major representation of the Maldives tourism industry including resorts, hotels, guesthouses, liveaboards, local travel agents, and tour operators.
