State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has completed renovations at the home for people with special needs in Guraidhoo, Kaafu Atoll.
STELCO renovated the fifth block at the centre as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Other renovations included replacing the tiles, restoring the bathrooms and kitchens, replacing the furniture, and adding in the necessary equipment needed at the centre.
The agreement to hand over the centre after the renovation was signed by the Managing Director of STELCO Hassan Mughnee and Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Aishath Mohamed Didi.
At the agreement signing ceremony, Minister Aishath said the generous work of STELCO has improved the lives of numerous individuals in need of special care. The centre is operating over capacity with 199 patients, with more on the waiting list, but the renovation work has opened up 28 new slots at the centre, she noted.
Managing Director Mughnee said the work conducted by STELCO as part of its CSR focuses on helping those who are most in need. He said the company will continue to provide assistance to the special needs centre in Guraidhoo.
