President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the newly developed harbour in Himandhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll.

The president inaugurated the harbour during his visit to Himandhoo as part of his ongoing trip to six islands of Alifu Alifu Atoll. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam.

The project to develop Himandhoo’s harbour was undertaken by MTCC at a cost of USD 3 million from the state budget. Under the project, 28,000 square metres of land were reclaimed, along with the construction of a 372-metre concrete quay, a 141-metre revetment and a 405-metre breakwater. Additionally, a bridge was constructed to connect the quay to the breakwater, while a 3-metre wide jetty was constructed alongside the breakwater to be used by small vessels.
