Focus on self responsibility to maintain peace and harmony: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged Maldivians to focus on social responsibility to maintain peace and harmony of communities. He made the statement on the eve of the Eid Milad ul-Nabi of Prophet Muhammad Rasūl Allāh Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

In his written address, President Solih conveyed his warmest greetings and salutations to all Maldivians, to the leaders of Islamic countries, and to all Muslims celebrating the blessed occasion across the world. The president called on all Maldivians to learn to apply the wisdom of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad Rasūl Allāh Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam to address the lives and society today. He stated the enlightenment of Prophet Muhammad Rasūl Allāh Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam allowed a prosperous civilisation to thrive through fortifying individual civil responsibility and accountability and nurturing close social relations.

In his statement, President Solih said the greatest lesson to learn from the guidance of Prophet Muhammad Rasūl Allāh Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is that the true measure of a nation's progress is the concord and solidarity evidenced by its people. He stated that Prophet Muhammad Rasūl Allāh Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had demonstrated that steps towards positive growth must always start with the self, further affirming the prophet had always reflected this principle in his own actions.

President Solih stated that Prophet Muhammad Rasūl Allāh Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had actively demonstrated the virtuous tenets of not causing others harm, abstaining from hateful speech, or damaging others property and letting go of resentful thoughts.
