AgroNat gardening programme begins at Kandoodhoo School

Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan has inaugurated a gardening programme at Kandoodhoo School organised by Agro National Corporation (AgroNat). He inaugurated the school gardening programme at a ceremony in Kandoodhoo, Thaa Atoll.

Speaking at the event, Minister Hassan said schools are the key to a prosperous future in any country as the education received by school students determines their contribution to the economy. He said the gardening programme that has begun at Kandoodhoo School is expected to raise the interest of students in the farming and agricultural industry. The programme is a major step in the government's efforts to expand the industry, added the minister.

Also speaking at the event, Managing Director of AgroNat Haroon Rasheed said educating children on farming and agriculture is an important goal and that the company plans to host gardening programmes in more schools.

The AgroNat school gardening programme aims to teach students the proper methods of farming to allow interested young people to begin a career in the industry in the future.

Kandoodhoo School plans to grow lettuce, okras, basils, mint leaves, and corn as part of the gardening programme. AgroNat stated it will continue to monitor the programme and buy products grown by the school.
