The Non-Resident High Commissioner Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Maldives to South Africa Omar Abdul Razzak has presented his Letter of Credence to the President of South Africa Matamela Cyril Ramaphos. The credentials were presented at a ceremony held on October 13 at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse.
During the credentials ceremony, High Commissioner Omar expressed his gratitude to the South African government for being given the honour to present his Letter of Credence and serve as the first non-resident high commissioner of the Maldives to South Africa. High Commisioner Omar conveyed greetings from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the Maldives to the President and friendly people of South Africa.
High Commissioner Omar further expressed commitment to work closely with the South African government with a renewed focus in enhancing bilateral relationship between both countries. High Commissioner Omar wished every success, peace, prosperity, good health and happiness to the people of South Africa and expressed hope for the relationship between the Maldives and South Africa to prosper to new heights in the coming years.
The president of South Africa congratulated High Commissioner Omar on assumption of his duties as the non-resident high commissioner of Maldives to South Africa and expressed hope to work closely with the Maldives in further strengthening the bilateral relations.
The high commissioner was accompanied to the ceremony by Aishath Nihad from the High Commission of Maldives in Colombo, Sri Lanka. High Commissioner Omar is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Dr. Naledi Pandor and other cabinet ministers during the visit.
