Ministry of Health has revealed the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) will be creating a registry for volunteers working in the Greater Male' Region.
The health ministry has now opened the opportunity to submit for registration for individuals interested in volunteering in the COVID-19 response efforts. The ministry also stated HEOC plans to hold a training programme for registered volunteers and they will be chosen for various tasks conducted by the centre.
A large number of volunteers have contributed to the government's COVID-19 response efforts by assisting doctors and nurses, as well as treating sick patients, and volunteering for frontline tasks. The government had also stationed volunteers at hospitals and patients during the worst COVID-19 outbreak in the country, which saw a large number of patients admitted for treatment.
HEOC has stated it previously received a high number of applications from individuals interested in volunteer work. The centre is now seeking more volunteers for the Greater Male' Region to continue to curb the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
