Secretary-General of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Esala Ruwan Weerakoon has arrived in the Maldives on an introductory visit.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed the SAARC secretary-general is scheduled to call on the President of the Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, and Ambassador at Large and Former SAARC Secretary-General Ahmed Saleem.
The ministry stated the secretary-general will also call on former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and President of the Civil Service Commission Mohamed Nasih.
SAARC secretary-general will depart on October 13 upon the conclusion of his visit.
The secretary-general is accompanied by his spouse, Krishanti Weerakoon and Director, Social Affairs Division at SAARC Secretariat Ismail Mamdhooh.
Weerakoon assumed charge as the 14th Secretary-General of the SAARC in March last year.
