Maldives National Party (MNP) has announced it has elected members to various positions at the party congress.
MNP earlier announced Parliamentarian Colonel (Rtd.) Mohamed Nazim won the position of party president without an election, as he was the only candidate to contest for the position.
Four out of the six party vice presidents were also appointed without an election. They are Hussain Ismail for vice president of the northern region, Parliamentarian Ahmed Usham for vice president of the central region, Parliamentarian Abdulla Riyaz for the south-central region, and Chairman of Cyryx College Ahmed Shareef for the southern region.
Furthermore, Shidhatha Shareef and Mirfath Ismail Shafeeq won the positions of vice presidents after an election. Meanwhile, Dunya Maumoon won the seat of the president of the women's branch. MNP members also approved the party's flag and logo as well as basic policies at the congress.
MNP stated its goal is to increase the party membership to 10,000 by the end of the year.
