Spouse of PGA pays a courtesy call on the First Lady

Aishath Suiza, the Spouse of the President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA) Abdulla Shahid, has paid a courtesy call on First Lady Fazna Ahmed. The call was held at the Presidential Residence on October 9.

Speaking during the call, First Lady Fazna noted there are various diligent individuals behind every victory for the nation, spotlighting the prominent role of women in national successes. Affirming the role of the PGA's spouse in his success, the first lady stated that PGA Shahid was able to achieve what he achieved partly because of the choices Suiza made in the general caregiving role of the family. She continued that as the country celebrates the PGA’s homecoming this week, the country is equally celebrating women such as Suiza, whose often unacknowledged efforts greatly contribute to nation-building, both within as well as internationally.

Speaking further, First Lady Fazna reiterated that the role of women in developing the nation doesn't lie solely in the office environment, as women often also fulfil the role of primary caregiver at home. She outlined the invaluable contributions of women to nation-building, describing Suiza as an outstanding example of the crucial role played by women in the progress of our nation.

The first lady also wished the PGA success on his “Five Rays of Hope” vision, expressing her optimism that the PGA would prioritise COVID-19 recovery as well as empowering and protecting the rights of women during his tenure.

Speaking during the call, the PGA's spouse thanked the first lady for extending the invitation to meet with her.
