President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conferred the National Award of Honour to four individuals and the National Award of Recognition to 14 individuals. The recipients were presented with the honours at the official ceremony held to mark National Day.
The recipients of the National Award of Honour received commemorative shields and badges, while recipients of the National Award of Recognition received commemorative plaques from the President. The National Awards Committee, constituted by the President to determine recipients for this prestigious award, selected the recipients.
The National Award of Honour was presented to 4 individuals this year, one of which was awarded posthumously. The four recipients who received the National Award of Honour are Late Ibrahim Hussain Fulhu in the area of recitation and teaching of the Holy Quran, Hassan Labeeb in the area of Dhivehi literature, Dr. Hamid Rasheed for the contributions to the health sector, Malla Lhathuthu for the contributions to the field of sports.
The 14 recipients who received the National Award of Recognition are Al'khafiza Latheefa Ahmed in the area of recitation and teaching of the Holy Quran, Abdulla Jameel in the area of Dhivehi literature, Fathuhulla Ahmed in the area of Dhivehi literature, Sharaful Hudha Mohamed for the contributions in the field of teaching, Ihavandhoo Masveringe Gulhun (Imagu) for contributions in social work, Mohamed Rashid for the contributions in social work, Yoosuf Riffath for the contributions to the tourism sector, Fathimath Shifa Moosa Didi for the contributions to promoting arts and crafts, Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath for the contributions to the field of information technology, Ibrahim Mohamed for the contributions to the field of sports, Ali Rasheed for the contributions to the field of sports, Fathimath Saliya for the contributions to the field of sports, Maimoona in the area of Visual Arts and Arushad Ashraf in the area of Youth Development.
Upon conferring the awards, President Solih congratulated all recipients of the awards.
