Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has stated Expo 2020 will showcase Maldivian crafts and products.
Speaking to PSM News, Minister Fayyaz said Maldivian artists and entrepreneurs will be able to showcase their products at various events scheduled at the expo. Minister Fayyaz said more products will be brought to the expo depending on the popularity of the event, which is currently showcasing many cultural crafts and products from participating nations.
The minister stated Business Center Corporation (BCC) has established its pavilion to showcase and sell products to event attendees, which includes products submitted by various Maldivian artists. More products will be shipped to the expo depending on their popularity during the six-month event, he said.
The economic ministry stated over 40 Maldivian artists and entrepreneurs are participating in the expo and BCC is still accepting applications from interested individuals.
Expo 2020 was officially launched on October 1 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Dubai, UAE. Expo 2020 is the first world expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia and the first to be hosted by an Arab nation.
The expo plans to host 25 million visits, with 70% of them coming from beyond the country's borders, which is the largest proportion of international visitors in history.
