Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has revealed plans to install CCTV cameras in mosques in the Maldives to ensure safety and protection.
Answering questions posed regarding the safety, security, and protection of worshippers in the mosques and the mosques in general during a Parliament sitting, the home minister said it is crucial to identify and stop illegal and filthy actions undertaken inside mosques He added after extensive discussions with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and relevant authorities, it was known that installing CCTV cameras are crucial, although the project is costly.
He expressed the root cause of all such actions is the increase in drug use amongst Maldivian youth.
