President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Abdulla Sodig as Minister of State for National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
President Solih presented Sodig with the letter of appointment at a special ceremony at the President's Office. Abdulla Sodiq previously worked as a teacher before being appointed as an atoll councillor of Addu City following the presidential election in 2008. Sodiq also served three consecutive terms as the mayor of Addu City after being elected as the first mayor of the city in February 2011.
Sodig completed his higher education at the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Chemical Technology.
