Ministry of Education has revealed over 27,000 students have completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The education ministry stated 27,697 students across 178 public and private schools have received both doses of the vaccine and 35,989 students from 218 schools have received the first dose as of September 26.
The government began administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to students aged 12-17 on August 15, following the beginning of the new academic year. Around 40,000 students are eligible for the vaccine across the country and that students will be notified of their vaccination date and location through their respective schools, stated education ministry.
The government and schools have imposed measures to safeguard schools against the spread of COVID-19. As part of the efforts, individuals who have not completed the full dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine will not be allowed to enter schools.
Additionally, the education ministry introduced a vaccination green card to ensure all parents who fetch their children from schools are inoculated against COVID-19. The measures have resulted in the elimination of reported COVID-19 clusters at schools, noted the health authorities.
