Maldives to hold various activities in Expo 2020

Ministry of Economic Development has revealed the Maldivian participants will be holding various cultural activities in Expo 2020 to be held in Dubai, UAE. The economic ministry stated the expo is an important opportunity to promote the Maldives and showcase the country's natural beauty and the history of sustainable development undergone by its citizens.

Additionally, the government will also be hosting investment forums for different sectors during the expo to provide information on investment and business opportunities in the Maldives.

Expo 2020 Dubai will also hold a day of honour for the Maldives pavilion on October 25 to exclusively showcase the country. The expo is scheduled to open on October 1 and would last a period of six months, after being rescheduled from October 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Expo 2020 is the first world expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia and the first to be hosted by an Arab nation. The expo plans to host 25 million visits, with 70 percent of them coming from beyond the country's borders, which is the largest proportion of international visitors in history.

The team from the Maldives is expected to establish its pavilion in the Sustainability District and showcase Maldivian cultural activities, music, and art.
